Irish Conspiracy…

Irish pubs are part of a devious plot by the Irish to take over the world… putsch style.
They are quietly planning world domination through coordinated, synchronized efforts centered around the proliferation of Irish pubs. What better way to infiltrate a civilization than by setting up seemingly harmless outposts in all the world’s cities? These pubs […]

Free Will?

The book I’m reading now has taken all my free time and has kept me from blogging. It’s mind boggling. It describes how the political/moral/religious doctrines of the Noble Savage, the Ghost in the Machine, and Tabula Rasa are being disproved by modern cognitive science.
Now, because of this book, some of the philisophical mumbo jumbo […]

Vienna Elections…

Vienna’s city elections are approaching and the war for people’s votes has begun. The far right party, FPÖ, has once again used the opprotunity to spread a hateful message.
HC Stracher is FPÖ’s candidate for mayor. His face is plastered all over town on the following billboards…

“Don’t Let Vienna Become Istanbul!” - “He Says, What Vienna […]

The Plight of the Artist…

What is art? My favourite definition goes like this…
“Art is an idea in it’s most perfect form”
The problem is, there is no such thing as perfection, so to be an artist is to consign yourself to a life of torture. You commit yourself to attain the unattainable. Idealism is your curse, no matter how much […]

Laura is making giant leaps in her language skills, but is speaking like Jar Jar Binks.
She plays a lot with puzzles and her running commentary goes something like this…”This is a wonsa isa goesa HERE!”

She loves preschool and is impressing all the ladies there with her shape reciting skills. Circles, Squares, Triangles, Ovals, Hearts, […]

Mcdonalds has a hamburger called the “Double Quarter-Pounder”, the deluxe version of the “Quarter Pounder”. Why don’t they just call it a “Half-Pounder”? That’s like calling something a “Triple Third-Pounder”.
This is my theory why….
Half of a pound sounds like a lot. Most people would say…

“Whoah! HALF a pound? that’s huuuuge! I couldn’t possibly eat anything […]

We watched the movie Enduring Love last night. It has just beat Meet the Parents (which I consider a horror movie) as the scariest ever in the film canon.
Its creepier than Fatal Attraction or the Hand That Rocks the Cradle or Flowers in the Attic (that movie scared the shit out of me when I […]

Malcolm Gladwell recently wrote a great article for the New Yorker
Right now I am reading through his archive at gladwell.com
I am really getting into podcasting. I just downloaded broadcasts from American Atheists, the Christian and the Atheist, Skepticality, Slate’s weekly broadcast, and Eye on the Media.

Segways in Vienna…

08.25.05 | Permalink | 2 Comments

We saw Segways the other day. A group of people were taking them out for a test run.
Segways would be perfect for Vienna. We need relief from the ever-growing traffic in the city, especially loud-ass motorcycles.
As far as I’m concerned Vienna’s inner districts should be completely pedestrian. We have an aweseme subway system and most […]

Babychinos…

Babychinos are the solution for kids in a café environment. Instead of letting them drink caffeinated coffee (which is frowned upon in most cultures) satisfy your baby’s urge for participation by asking for a small espresso cup filled with milk froth. It keeps ‘em busy and provides calcium.
M’ Daughter loves ‘em.

Another View on Conservatives…

“The problem…with Republicans in general… is that they are incorrigible doubters with an insatiable appetite for Evidence. What they get off on is not Believing, but in having their beliefs tested. That’s why their conversations and their media are so completely dominated by implacable bogeymen: marrying gays, liberals, the ACLU, Sean Penn, Europeans, and so […]

Pat Robertson did it, Rush Limbaugh does it. Heck! most conservatives do it. What is it that allows the public to accept such outright lies? Why does the average Joe believe the denials?

My Mom attended a vigil for the fallen Michigan soldiers at our county office, it coincided with the Cindy Sheehan demonstration at George Bush’s Texas ranch. A small protest of Iraq war supporters convened across the street, consisting mostly of young peoples.
